The Leadership through Public-Speaking Program for Grades 4-6, was created to develop the leaders of tomorrow, developing your child’s mind and builds skills to push the boundaries of what they believe is possible.

In this engaging and enjoyable course, your child will learn the foundational principles of speaking in public while also learning the core foundations of building a resilient mindset and how to apply these principles into their daily life, not just for public speaking.

Whether it be having the confidence to speak to family members, try new opportunities or present in front of their school for a leadership role; this program is designed to assist your child mentally, socially and academically.

The world can be a scary place for a young child navigating their way in an interconnected, rapidly-evolving world.

We will equip your child with skills and tools to skyrocket their emotional development. In the short-term, these skills will help achieve captaincy roles at school & scholarships like one of the founders, Kailash, who was offered 5!

The skills we forge and teach our students are often not taught to adults until their mid 30s and will lead to greater emotional, academic and mental success. Furthermore, it will lead to a boost in your child’s self-esteem, resilience, confidence and character.

The Captivation Methodology

After trialling and testing different methodologies, workshops and ideas to over 300 students to find the one that really works, we are using the 4C’s Formula that is our proven methodology to build resilience, self-esteem and confidence in any child.

Your child will learn a simple and succinct framework to help them structure their thoughts. Additionally, your child will have the opportunity to speak over 20 times in our program, giving an average child more exposure over this program in 2 days than 2 years worth of schooling.

74% of people suffer from speech anxiety. It is extremely important to teach public speaking from a young age so that your child can gain the necessary experience to speak comfortably before they go to their first scholarship, job or uni interview. Public speaking is one of the most valuable skill sets that employers also look for in employees. With it being the number one fear among adults, these programs will give your child an advantage academically and socially. How will you keep our child engaged while teaching Public-Speaking online?

We understand that like one of our founders, your child may struggle to sit for long periods of time and focus on one task. If that’s the case, don’t worry! Our courses have been designed for the “Tik-Tok Generation” with modules delivered in ‘bite-sized content.’ We utilise effective study habits such as the Pomodoro Technique with the majority of exercises taking only 25 minutes of work with a 5 minute break ensuring that the students are fresh to learn the next activity.

Furthermore, we teach mindfulness, breathing and meditation techniques to allow your child to study and work for longer periods of time, making them more productive and also less stressed.

What makes this course different from other courses out there?

We use conscious and subconscious processes to prepare students on how to present. We believe that students need to learn public speaking, but more importantly, they need to also develop in areas of resilience, confidence and influence to become better leaders. Many leadership skills are not taught at school or are done so in a very theoretical manner and students do not value them or see any practical applications. The Academy of Speakers uses the art of public speaking to hone these skills.

I thought they teach public-speaking and leadership skills in school?

Unfortunately public speaking is not given the right level of focus as other life skills seeing that 74% of the population suffers from speech anxiety. This is as a result of severe underfunding of the creative arts.

This has led to teachers having to take time out of their personal lives to teach public-speaking, with only a select few being taught Public-Speaking. Furthermore, the current Education system uses the 1915’s Dale Carnegie’s methodology of speaking which has not been revised or updated, therefore not taking into account the Digital World we live in with decreasing attention spans.

Many leadership skills are not taught at school or done so in a very theoretical manner and students do not value them or see any practical applications. Schools focus more on fulfilling learning outcomes and utilise a narrow approach, instead of utilising the creative arts and a wide range of techniques such as Mindfulness and Effective Breathing to increase confidence and other leadership techniques.

How can public-speaking build leadership skills?

The quickest way to build leadership skills is to learn how to be ‘comfortable being uncomfortable’. Public speaking throws students in the deep-end, with the Academy of Speakers acting as a life-guard ready to catch them if anything happens.

Public Speaking can build:

Resilience → Public-Speaking is all about making mistakes and having the ability to bounce back and continue.

Self-Esteem → Public-Speaking gives a child the opportunity to overcome their fear of failure and change the way that they perceive themselves. Furthermore, it gives a platform for students to express their individuality.

Confidence → We give students the techniques and tools to have the confidence to share their message and strength in their ability to share their story.

We have taught over 300 kids the art of public-speaking with an average rating of 4.9/5 stars. We have had children who have attended over 9+ courses and go from being home-schooled because they have been severely bullied to rejoining their schools and becoming the captain of their school.

Furthermore, we have had children win public speaking competitions including the Eisteddfod Competition and earn scholarships to competitive Private-Schools in Australia because of our training. We know the Academy of Speakers methodology works and can make a huge impact on a child’s development.
